President Mahinda Rajapakse has called upon all sections of people to forget about political motives and work thoughtfully towards the development of the country. He expressed this during his address at the pioneer seminar for the personnel of the cooperative sector.

Sri Lanka is the motherland of three communities. It is our duty to prevent the division of our motherland. The present war is not a one against one community, but a campaign to eradicate terrorism.

Terrorists are terrorists irrespective of the country they operate. Certain sections in our country try to give a different interpretation and want to gain narrow political mileage. We have to establish a conducive environment for all the communities to live fearlessly and peacefully. There are people who are deprived of facilities to make even registration of marriages and complaints at police stations in the Tamil language. There are language-training courses being conducted to rectify this situation. 3200 Tamil medium teachers to the estate sector were recruited, said the President.
