The Potuvil-Panama road which was damaged in the 2004 tsunami will be renovated.
The Asian Development Bank provides financial assistance for this renovation. The cabinet approval in this connection was received recently. The government says an extent of 18 kilometres of the road will be renovated.

The cabinet granted its approval to produce and use alternative fuel in Sri Lanka.
A committee comprising representatives of the Ministry of Petroleum and Petroleum Recourses, Ceylon Petroleum Corporation, Public Utilisation Commission, Central Environmental Authority and the Sri Lanka Motor Vehicles Association have already been set up to prepare guidelines to this effect.

The act to control the fragmentation of coconut, rubber and tea cultivated land will be amended.
