Eight documents of idetifications will be accepted for local government elections

Elections Commissioner Dayananda Dissanayake says 8 documents of identification are accepted for the local government elections in the Batticaloa District.
These are the National Identity Card, driving licence, passport, clergy identity cards, photo IDs issued by government institutions, Train season tickets with photo, photograph attested by Grama Niladhari, and temporary identity cards. Person’s who do not possess these forms of identification should obtain a passport size coloured or black and white photograph and get it attested by the Grama Niladhari officer of the area. The elections chief said individuals who are unable to prove their identity at the voting centre will not be issued ballot papers.
