Sri Lanka plans to launch its first ever satellite marking the beginning of a new chapter in satellite technology.

Dr. Chandana Jayarathne says the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission directly contributes in this measure. Foreign expertise will also be sought in the process.

Dr. Jayarathne said initial measures in this regard have already commenced after receiving President’s approval to launch a satellite.

The satellite is proposed to be named after the late Sir Arthur C. Clarke.
