Duminda’s anticipatory bail application dismissed
A Magistrate dismissed the anticipatory bail application filed by the Western Provincial Councillor Duminda Silva.
Mount Lavinia Additional Magistrate and Additional District Judge Dharshika Wimalasiri made the order sequel to a complaint made by film actress Anarkalli Aakarssha to the Kollupitiya police alleging that she was abducted by Duminda Silva and held in detention forcibly.
The Wellawatte Police told court that on the direction of the Attorney General, they conducted investigations into the complaint of an alleged abduction of the film actress on July 3 at Swarna Road Wellawatte.
Wellawatte Police OIC Mangala Dehideniya said they investigated into the complaint made to the Kollupitiya Police and recorded statements from Sujeewa Dharmawickrama, Mahendra Perera, Anuradha Jayasinghe and the residents in the vicinity.
Police also said they tried to record a statement from an important witness Mahesh Bandara who was absconding.
Police also filed a report saying the actress told the Police over the phone that she would call over at the station to make a statement but had failed to do so through fear.
Following the police submissions the Magistrate dismissed the anticipatory bail application of Duminda Silva and ordered the police to fully probe the incident and report to court on November 13.
