image Dr. P.B. Jayasundara extending his letter of resignation today, sought to be relinquished from his current position as Secretary to Ministry of Finance after paying the landmark fine imposed by the Supreme Court.Dr. Jayasundara who happens to be the longest serving Treasury Secretary after former Secretary R. Paskaralingam was ordered to pay Rs. 500,000, the highest ever compensation in a fundamental rights case, after finding him guilty of having concealed facts to the Cabinet and being party to an act of massive corruption. However, the sources said  that it is doubtful that President Mahinda Rajapakse would accept the letter of resignation, having considered the appeals made by Ministers and other Senior Government officials at this juncture.Meanwhile, Private sector shaken from the recent judgment expressed their concern over UPFA Government resorting to legal remedy in taking-over profit making private ventures which were loss making state burdens before being privatized.
