Curfew Relaxed for Nallur Kovil Festival

SECURITY FORCES Headquarters, JAFFNA, in response to a request made by Trustees at the most sacred NALLUR Hindu Temple (Kovil) in JAFFNA has reduced the curfew hours in the WALIKAMAM division in JAFFNA by half an hour, effective from Wednesday (6) morning.

The curfew now in force beginning at 9.00 p.m. will thus be lifted at 4.00 a.m. effective from tomorrow (6th August 2008). Generally the curfew hours in the peninsula end at 4.30 a.m.Kovil Trustees requested this 30-minute long relaxation between 6th-31st August from Commander, Security Forces Headquarters, JAFFNA, in order to conduct the annual festival rites in accordance with Hindu traditions during the wee hours.
