Nallur festival opens, curfew relaxed.

An estimated 5,000 people gathered for the flag hoisting ceremony for the annual Jaffna, Nallur Kandasamy Kovil festival which commenced Wednesday as the army relaxed the curfew by half an hour to faciliate pilgrims to attend the poojas.

The ceremony will last for 30 days during which the main Chariot festival will take place on September 6.

The normal curfew which is enforced from 9.00 p.m. to 4.30 a.m. will now be lifted at 4.00 a.m.
