Seventeen dogs in the surrounding area of the BMICH who were
locked up during the SAARC summit were released today by the Colombo Municipal Council (CMC). Chief Veterinary Surgeon of the CMC Dr. D. Illeperuma said  that a total number of 28 dogs were in the CMC dog pound and among them 19 were adult dogs and 9 were puppies. He said the puppies would remain in the CMC dog pound until proper and safe homes are provided and two of the adult dogs are in a weak state. “The two adult dogs would be kept and taken care until they are fit enough to be on their own and the puppies would be with us until we find them safe shelters. Today a number of 17 dogs were released” he said.
