UN Security Council warns Prabakaran Faction of the LTTE

The Executive committee of the UN Security Council has severely warned the Prabakaran faction of the LTTE for its efforts to recruit children into its fighting cadres. The Executive committee has stated that the LTTE would have to confront serious consequences if it didn’t stop the conscription of under aged children to its Army. The LTTE must take corrective actions, if not proper action would be initiated, said the committee.

Meanwhile, the UNICEF chief Joanna had mentioned that the Prabakaran faction recruited 1567 children under the age of 18 to its forces.
