Seven Sri Lankans were arrested on Tuesday in a joint operation by the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority and the Commercial Affairs Department.
Four of them were arrested in their hotel room, and eight counterfeit credit cards, a card printer, a laptop, stacks of transaction receipts and S$20,000 worth of goods purchased using the counterfeit cards, were seized.
Three other Sri Lankans were arrested in the vicinity. They had with them another 10 fake credit cards.
Anyone convicted of possessing counterfeit credit cards could be jailed for up to 15 years, fined or both; while the punishment for cheating is a jail term of up to 10 years, or a fine, or both.
