Prabakaran: the biggest hurdle on the road to Peace
After 23 years history of a brutal war Prabhakaran, the man who called himself a savior, a liberator and a soldier has finally gained his true title, the “terrorist†and it has become so fixated with him that now there is no runaway for him from that title.
Stating this at the weekly media briefing, Minister Keheliya Rambukwalle pointed out that the war has been dragged on from the year1983 after the Black July, which Prabhakaran used to build a ruthless war machine while pretending to be the sole representative of the innocent Tamil people. As the ethnic Tamils at that time, faced certain grievances, Prabhakaran used them to the fullest advantage for his selfish motives.
But the true cause of those problems were the lack of consensus among the political parties as the opposition always opposed the ruling parties efforts to solve the problem in the past. However, now that problem has been resolved to a large extent and almost all the parties in Sri Lanka have joined their hands to overcome the home grown problem, Minister said. “But it is Prabhakeran, the so-called sole representative of the Tamil community who is creating the biggest hurdle now.â€
Thus, it is important that the Tamil community understand that Prabakaran is not a man who is ready to come out of the principle of war and the ruthless blood shedding connected with war. But the democratic Tamil politicians, all the religious leaders, and other groups are ready to face the challenge and overcome it, but Prabakeran still remains the biggest road block on the path to peace, the Defence Spokesman said. He urged the Tamil people, democratic Tamil political parties and groups to join hand with the government to find a lasting peaceful solution and marginalize Prabhakaran and the LTTE.
