Eastern fishing industry development

Several development works were being launched in the Eastern Province after 27 years.

In order to develop the fishing industry, a seafood storage centre was put up in the Panuchchankerny area at a cost of Rs. 2 million and was handed over for the public use.

The Fisheries and Aquatic Development Minister, Felix Perera and President’s Advisor Basil Rajapakse declared a fisheries bank open.

At the same time 100 out board motors, 100 boats for fishing in tanks and nets were supplied to the fishing folk in the east.
