SAARC Foreign Ministers agree to counter terrorism

The SAARC Home ministers have arrived at a common understanding at the New Delhi conference to eradicate terrorism, which continues to be a threat to the security and peace of SAARC regions and to coordinate affairs efficiently among them.

 

The Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollagama reiterated that the SAARC countries must fully work on the implementation of International and Regional declarations on countering terrorism within one country and internationally.

 

Minister Rohitha Bogollagama said that Sri Lanka follows a firm policy in relation to counter terrorist moves. He also said that an agreement was reached, to conduct the committee meeting on terrorist crimes within SAARC countries and the anti narcotics committee meeting in Colombo. He explained that narcotic deals and fund raising for the terrorist activities are not two but one thing. The narcotic deals are also carried on to raise funds, he said.
