Priority to the welfare of our country – Premier

Everyone must come forward to shed their narrow political motives and give priority to the country’s welfare- Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickremanayake made this appeal yesterday when addressing the 83rd World Thrift Day celebrations held at the BMICH, Colombo.

No scope should be offered to terrorists and their lackeys in our country. The government is ready to face the present situation in the country. We have to think whether the elements, which put forward obstacles, in our efforts to solicit financial support from foreign countries, are having the welfare of our country in their minds?

The security forces work wholeheartedly towards the security of the country. They have to be honoured. We have a duty to love our country, without considering as to who is ruling the country. There should be no place for terrorism and their cruelties here. In the same way, we will not give into agendas of the international countries. We require patriots. We want our country to be developed. Always first think it is our country, the Prime Minister stated.
