The air strikes were launched based on secrete message received from the LTTE intelligence head Pottu Amman. This cannot be a thing that Prabakaran was unaware of, said UNP MP Sarath Ranawaka in parliament.

It is Prabakaran who had arranged the murder of the LTTE’s political wing leader S.P. Tamilselvan, said Sarath Ranawaka. There had been differences of opinion between Tamilselvan and Prabakaran over the post of political wing secretary, and the killing took place subsequently.

The government disclosed that it initiated the air strike following intelligence based on LTTE intelligence unit. Therefore it can be presumed that Pottu Amman, being the leader of the Intelligence Wing has prompted the tip-off. This cannot be a thing unknown to Prabakaran, said Ranawaka in the House.
