The request of the LTTE to observe a 3-day mourning to condole the killing of the late S.P. Thamilselvan has been rejected by the Tamil Diaspora in France.

It is reported that the Diaspora of Tamils over 100,000 in number were seen engaged in their day to day affairs, despite the request. The holiday inns in the shopping area, which is mostly populated by Tamil Diaspora, were full of Tamils with their families enjoying their weekends.

The Tamils in the capital Paris live with all facilities and as such do not participate in events organised by the LTTE fronts. The condolence meetings too are attended by a few. Reports indicate that 14 Tigers are in police custody and inquiries are being conducted over the unlawful activities of the LTTE supporters. The Tamils living in Paris do not want to disobey or defy the French authorities
