A condolence rally was organized in Thamilnadu by the Viduthalai Siruththaikal for the LTTE political wing leader Thamilchelvan and 6 others who were killed in the Sri Lanka Air Force attack on 2.11.2007.

Congress MP Gunasekaran was against this rally and appealed to police to cancel the permission granted to hold the rally and the police withdrew the permission. Viduthalai Siruththaikal who organized the rally set the effigy of the Gunasekaran MP on fire and the police has taken 28 persons into custody in this regard.

At the same time the Indian Central Minister EVKS Ilankovan has said all the rallies and meetings supporting the LTTE should be banned. People are dirge in Thamilnadu for the last 15 days for a person of a banned movement killed and say that is Tamil aspiration. How can we condone the persons who killed Rajeev Gandhi in our own Tamil soil in cold blood? We cannot allow to grow this type of activities otherwise it will harm us one day, he said further.
