It is bared that the LTTE has detained a large number of school children and civilians in the Papasik camp in the Verugal area and torturing them.

An LTTE cadre resident at Kilivetti in Kumarapurammade this disclosure, after surrendering to the Thopur Police Post. He said he surrendered, as he could not tolerate LTTE torture. Many are desirous of deserting the outfit because of torture. He said they were being forcibly used to construct bunkers. The surrendered tiger cadre further said that those who do not heed LTTE orders, were being severely tortured. The Muttur police produced him in courts yesterday. The Media Centre for National Security said the court ordered that he should be handed over for rehabilitation.
