Human Shield at Vakarai and Kathiraweli in Batticaloa

It was what the tigers wanted; to cause damages to the innocent Tamil civilians by provoking the Army to retaliate for the tiger's sporadic and indiscriminate shelling at the Security Force's detachments at Kadjuwatte and Mankerni in Baticaloa and MaavilAru and Mahindapura in Trincomalee.

Tigers had been planning this situation since the beginning of this month by detaining the innocent civilians in those areas by force to be used as a Human Shield when the time arises.

This the tigers thought would be a score card to gain the international community's sympathy by projecting that the Security Forces are shelling the villages.

When inquired from the military sources, it was revealed that they possess Mortar Locating Radars an equipment which could identify the exact location of the tiger artillery positions to the last ten meters when the guns are being fired.

As per the senior military officials it was disclosed that there is not even a slightest possibility in the Security Forces shells falling at the villages which are far away from the tiger gun positions and the tiger bases in the uncleared areas.

Intelligence sources confirmed that the tigers are keeping the innocent civilians at gun point to closer to their bases and gun positions commanding their much reluctant assistance for tasks such as ferrying ammunition and constructing their defences.

Meanwhile the field commanders in the areas said that the flow of civilians from Vakarai, Kaddimurivukulam and Kirimichchi areas to the cleared areas had increased during last few days and they have disclosed that the tigers had been retaining them by force to get their assistance in tigers' military activities.

Security Forces say that they are more concerned about the safety of the innocent civilians than the tigers and the fact of them seeking entry into the cleared areas is a solid proof of.
