One thousand graduate teachers for the liberated East

One thousand graduates are going to be appointed as teachers to fill the existing vacancies in schools in the East recently liberated from LTTE, said the Deputy Education Minister Nirmala Kotalawala, at the press briefing held yesterday (27/7) morning at the Department of Information.
We have restored the rights of education to students of the East, which was denied to them in the past by the LTTE. We have done the necessary reconstruction work and 28 schools are now functioning. The government has provided the necessary equipments, furniture including text books etc., the Deputy Minister quipped.
