The Tamil Nadu Fisheries Department is making arrangements to place display boards at the boundary in the sea to prevent the Tamil Nadu fishermen trespassing into Sri Lankan waters.

The Indian fishermen used to cross the border in to Sri Lankan waters with a view to net expensive variety of seafoods like prawns. During such instances they become captives of the Sri Lanka Navy and their boats are taken in to custody along with them.

The Fisheries Department has decided to place warning boards in the fishing boats to prevent trespassing. The fishing boats that operate from Rameswaram, Paampan, Mandapam, Keelkarai, Thondi, Puthukoddai, Nagapatnam, Tutricorn, Kanyakumari will carry these warning boards.
