The late Political Wing leader of the LTTE is not a peace lover, not a leader who worked towards achieving a justifiable political solution to the Tamil people, but an armed terrorist who led the terrorist outfit, said the Defence Spokesman and Minister Keheliya Rambukwella, at the weekly press briefing held yesterday at the Media Centre for National Security.

The Minister said, that his demise would not be an obstacle to achieve peace, and it is wrong on the part of certain people to affiliate peace process with Thamilselvan. He is the second level leader in the LTTE.

He had been a stumbling black in the peace negotiations and when the new President Mahinda Rajapakse initiated peace talks in Geneva in 2005, the LTTE team, which had Tamilselvan in its command, rejected all the proposals by the government. During the second phase of the talks, the LTTE negotiators prioritised the opening of the A – 9 highways, brushing aside all other important issues. Even the Oslo talks ended in a failure as Thamilselvan was representing the LTTE. Minister Keheliya Rambukwella further said that Thamilselvan always helped and promoted the growth of terrorism.
