UNP yesterday vehemently condemned the recent explosions in buses in Nittambuwa and Meetiyagoda blamed the LTTE for it.

UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake said in a statement that setting off bombs to destroy buses in the south and aerial bombing in the north will not solve the national issue. He said statements of condemning these attacks and aggressive reactions are also not the solution for the issue, as these will only make things complicated.

“Let us find a solution to the national issue with utmost diligence and in a calm state of mind” he said. Mr. Attanayake stressed the need for studying the global trends and past experience in finding a solution to the issue. The solution has to be devolution of power, which is acceptable to all communities. He said UNP is ready to work with the government in finding a solution to the national issue.
