Madumanthie sets new record in high jump

One Sri Lanka record was established at the Women’s Open Athletic Championship that concluded at the Sugathadasa Stadium yesterday.

Priyangika Madumanthi established the new Sri Lanka record in the high jump event for women over 20 years. She went over the bar placed at a height of 1.76 metres for the new record after 15 years.

The previous record was 1.75 metres that was established by Sriyani Kulawansa in 1991. This record was equalled by Madumanthie in 2004 and again in 2005 by Lahiruni Pieris
