25 Athletes to Asian Games in Doha

Despite only 5 athletes surpassing the qualifying standards required for the Asian Games in Doha in December, the Sri Lankan contingency is believed to number up to 25.

Susanthika Jayasinghe in the 100 and 200 meters Prassanna Amarasekera and Rohan Pradeep Kumara in the 400 meters, Manjula Kumara Wijyesekera (High Jump) and Sampath Weerasinghe (triple jump) have qualified for the games.

The Athletic Association of Sri Lanka (AASL) have included all the gold medallist from the South Asia Games in the Asian Games pool.

12 Gold medallist and two gold medal winning relay teams have been included and the remains slots will be chose from the National Sports Festival to be held on the 22nd and 24th September 2006, in Colombo

Damayanthi Dharsha will not be participating due to knee injury and therefore will skip the trial.
