Sprinter Jani Chathurangani Silva rejected the charges

Sprinter Jani Chathurangani Silva, whose ‘a’ urine sample taken at the 10th South Asian games was tested positive for performance enhancing drugs, has been summoned by the athletic body for an initial investigation. She rejected the charges at the sports medical unit in Colombo today. Jani Chathuranghi told news men to day that the allegations against her were baseless.
Jane had won gold and silver medals at the recently concluded SA games in Colombo. According to preliminary tests it has been revealed that she had used banned steroids before the event. She had requested the authorities to grant her time till tomorrow to answer allegations leveled against her.

Sprinter Jani Chathurangi said that she is innocence and the investigation are continuing. She noted that she will prove her innocence after the inquire. She expressed the hope that spots authorities will appear on behalf of her at this investigation.

President of the athletic association of Sri Lanka (AASL), Dervin Perera said yesterday that the leading Sri Lanka woman sprinter has been summoned for a meeting today. She came there for the test at around 10.00 a.m. all the officers were ready to conduct the investigation today.

The head of the sports medical unit Dr. Geethanjana Mendis said that further inquires will be conducted considering the statement of Jani Chathurangi tomorrow.
