Sri Lanka have won the second cricket test against New Zealand by 217 runs to square the two-test series.

The Black Caps started the day with two wickets down but finished 286 all out in their second innings chasing 504 to win.

Daniel Vettori backed up his 10 wickets in the match with a half century before being undone lbw by Murali Muralitharan's doosra ball for 51.

James Franklin had the next highest score of the home side’s innings with 44.

Muralitharan picked up 6 for 64 in the second innings to bag 10 wickets in the match.
