Reconstruction activities in liberated areas are being expedited. A group of journalists visited Sampur to inquire into the present situation. Journalists have been given an opportunity to visit the area for the first time. The Sri Lanka navy is controlling the sea belt from Sampur to Ilankannai via Kattaparichchan. Troops have been deployed to maintain security in the area. they are building camps at the moment. The troops are also engaged in improving infrastructure facilities. A defence line was built to prevent infiltration of tiger terrorists. Civilians have extended their support for the construction activities. Civilians have not returned to Sampur. as yet. A spokesman of the Sri Lanka navy said that action will be taken to re-settle civilians after the completion of reconstruction activities. normalcy has been restored in Muttur and the security has been strengthened by troops. All arrangements are being made to improve infrastructure facilities in the area.
