Gems Diamonds Jewellery bring Rs. 45 billion

The Gems, Diamonds and Jewellery industry has flourished in an unprecedented scale in exports bring huge revenue to the country.

The export earnings from these three sectors have recorded a remarkable Rs.45 billion, the National Gem and Jewellery Authority revealed.

These earnings in this export  sector follows practical measures adopted by President Mahinda Rajapaksa to give priority to national resources, sources said.

In addition to the West, Sri Lanka has captured countries like India, China,Russia,Turkey, Taiwan and Oman to exports these products.

The river  beds have immensely contributed to find valuable gems for export, the sources added.
