UNP alleges government trying to prevent election petition

The UNP alleged today that the government is attempting to prevent General (retd.)Sarath Fonseka from filing an election petition challenging the outcome of the last presidential poll by keeping him in custody.

“The petition has to be filed by General Fonseka and with him being in custody we cannot do it,” UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake said.
