Nominations will be accepted from February 19 to 26 for the parliamentary polls.

General election nominations will be accepted from Feb. 19 to 26 .The respective district secretariats will receive the nominations, said the Elections Department.

According to the UPFA general secretary Susil Premajayantha, the general election will take place on April 08.

President Mahinda Rajapaksa dissolved parliament last night (Feb. 09).

The election will see voters electing 196 of their representatives to parliament from 22 districts.

There will also be 29 national list MPs.

The new parliament will hold its inaugural session on April 22.
