Lankan sailors to be freed next week
The 13 Sri Lankan sailors held for over three months in captivity by Somali pirates are likely to be freed sometime later next week, Captain S.H.R Kumar-the local agent for the shipping firm said.
He added that talks between the pirates and the maritime insurance companies was nearing the end and that the pirates appeared to be satisfied with the out come.
“It is most likely that the crew and vessel would be released in the next few days”, Capt. Kumar added.
The MT Al Nisr Al Saudi was grabbed by pirates in the Gulf of Aden some three months ago and guided to the pirate stronghold of Garad on the Somali coast.
