Jobs of Sri Lankans in Paris at stake due to shortcomings at Sri Lankan embassy

The jobs of Sri Lankans who have migrated to France are reportedly at stake due to the non implementation of the agreement between the Sri Lanka Foreign Ministry and the French Foreign Employment Bureau.

Although the said agreement was signed by former Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollagama about two years ago, the Sri Lankan embassy in France has not taken steps to implement it.

The International Migration Organization says that there are about 28,000 employment opportunities for house maids in France. The Organization states that Sri Lankans have a

chance of gaining such employment as the French do not prefer the current workers from the French colonies.
