The Sri Lanka government is planning to create foreign employment opportunities for the internally displaced persons (IDPs) living in welfare centres in the North.

Kingsley Ranawaka, chairman of the Foreign Employment Bureau, said they will launch a special programme for this in the near future.

According to the chairman, the Foreign Employment Bureau will establish offices in the Northern and Eastern Provinces for this purpose. The first of these two offices will begin operations in Batticaloa this month, Mr. Ranawaka said.

The Foreign Employment Bureau hopes to set up the second office in the Wanni region, but the exact location has not been decided.
