Woman shot dead in Wellawatte

Atputharani, a 46-yearold family woman was shot dead by the LTTE at Manning Place in Wellawatte Colombo 6, yesterday at 6:30 pm. Two LTTE cadres came by in a motorbike and opened fire at her in her sewing centre at Manning place. She succumbed to her injuries on the way to Kalubowila hospital. She was displaced to Vanni from Jaffna earlier, escaped with injuries from the deathblow of the LTTE in Vanni and came to Colombo fearing for her life, her relative said.
