SLMC and DPF to contest separately if unable to arrive at an agreement
SLMC Leader Rauf Hakeem and DPF Leader Mano Ganeshan have expressed the likelihood of contesting the election separately if the joint opposition cannot contest the general election under a common symbol, party sources said.
Hakeem and Ganeshan had met with Anoma Fonseka today afternoon for a lengthy discussion on the matter and it had been decided to somehow get the UNP to agree to contest under a common symbol at the election. They have also agreed that there would not be any other alternative but to contest separately if the UNP does not agree to contest under a common symbol.
