JVP Not Scared Of 'Medamulana' Fury Of Rajapakses – Anura Dissanayake
The political process of the JVP could never be stopped by the Medamulana fury of Rajapakses and JVP is not a political party that could be stopped by suppression said Member of the Political Bureau of the JVP Anura Dissanayake.
Speaking at a press conference convened regarding the attempt made today (19th) by the police to search the head office of the JVP Mr. Dissanayake said, "Today at about 11.00 a.m. an ASP and a police team including the IP in charge of Thalangama police area came to JVP head office at 646/20 at Pelawatta. They said they suspect there was a stock of posters to sling mud at the President at our head office and they wanted us to allow them to search for it. There is a legal procedure that should be followed when searching any place. We told the gentlemen of the police we did not have any illegal things to hide, we could allow them to search anyplace in the office but we could allow it only if they have permission from the judiciary. Then they left to get permission from the judiciary leaving two police officers here. Even after two hours they did not come back.
They have not come even at this time we are addressing you. Then Comrade Sunil Handunneththi asked whether they were coming. They said they would come in an hour. Later the police spokesman said the police had arrived here mistakenly. We would like to emphasize that it was not a mistake. This is another instance of the undemocratic path of 'Medamulana.'
From the inception of our party there have been such threats. This party has come through all those terrorizing. We have overcome such terror for 60 years. We would like to tell Mahinda Rajapakse that such terror tactics would not halt this movement. We don't have anything to hide. This office is open for the masses of this country. It is open for anybody. There are press conferences held here ceaselessly. However, no undemocratic moves take place here.
What has actually surfaced now is the fury of Medamulana. These are conspiracies carried out with the suppression of the media. The JVP is not scared of such conspiracies and threats. We would like to tell Mahinda Rajapakse and his henchmen that the JVP is not a political party that could be terrorized. All these point out to a serious breakdown of security in the country. We call upon all masses to rally against the undemocratic path of Mahinda Rajapakse.
