Dullas Alahapperuma has said that Mervyn Silva had lost the Kelaniya electorate by 2,516 votes at the last Presidential election and that the final results of the electorate indicated a victory for the President by 6,501 votes due to a computer gimmick by Basil Rajapaksa.

Dullas had made this comment when he met some of his media friends from Kalutara District recently.

He had also said that Mervyn would lose the Kelaniya electorate at the general election as well and that Mervyn’s fate would be decided by the preferential votes.
According to Dullas, Mervyn is being used by Basil Rajapaksa, who does not have a vote base in the Gampaha District, to get him votes through corrupt means.

Dullas had told his old media friends that Basil had promised to discard Mervyn after the general election and that the UPFA would be represented in the next parliament by those who align themselves with Basil, Gotabhaya and himself.
