The President had ordered Namal Rajapaksa’s Nil Balakaya to ensure that at least two young and loyal contestants win from each district as he wanted to limit the next Cabinet of ministers to 35 and include the help of the youth for the country’s development programme.

The President had made this order during a special discussion last Friday with representatives of Tharunayata Hetak and its affiliate Nil Balakaya.

The President had emphasized the need to limit the re-election of former ministers back to parliament as he planned to limit the Cabinet of
ministers and sideline the ministers who are unpopular among the people by ensuring the election of members of the Nil Balakaya.

After issuing the directive to the members of the Nil Balakaya, the President told a public rally in Bandarawela that he planned to limit the next Cabinet of ministers and to get the youth involved in the country’s development programme. Ministers Nimal Siripala De Silva and Dilan Perera were also present at the event held to support former Speaker W.J.M. Laokubandara’s son, who is also a member of the Nil Balakaya. He is to contest from the Badulla District.
