Mangala sets up polls watch to act on polls violence
The SLFP (M) is setting up a ‘polls watch’ to monitor election violence with effect from March 1, leader of the party Mangla Samaraweera announced today.
He said that they would be gathering all election related incidents from all parts of the country will be submitting to a panel of lawyers and senior police officers who in turn will be taking up the matters in courts, depending on the case.
He said that the main reason for setting up the ‘polls watch’ was due to the inaction of police.
The ‘polls watch’ will be operative round the clock.
