Gen. Fonseka signs nominations under 'trophy' symbol

Gen. Sarath Fonseka today (Feb. 24) signed nominations under the 'trophy' symbol of the Democratic National Alliance to contest the upcoming general election from Colombo district.
He had previously turned down an invitation by the UNP to contest under its 'elephant' symbol.
The DNA is a political alliance led by the JVP.
Gen. Fonseka, who is presently detained at the Navy headquarters in Colombo on conspiracy charges, signed the nomination document this afternoon in the presence of a lawyer.
The Supreme Court had ordered that the General be allowed to sign the papers.
