Ranil among the rare few politicians

Opposition and UNP leader considered as one among the rare breed of politicians in Sri Lanka for his honesty , integrity and rectitude is also one of the four rare politicians in SL who has been in the SL Parliament since 1977 without interruption.

The other three politicians who share this honor   with him for being in Parliament since 1977 are , UNP Sarthchandra Raakaruna, UPFA  P. Dayaratne and TNA leader R. Sampanthan.

The present Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickremnayake is  also another veteran  in Parliament , but his career was interrupted when he lost the elections in 1977.
