Wimal speaks against Mervyn’s thuggery

NFF Leader Wimal Weerawansa it is learnt had informed UPFA Gampaha District Leader, Basil Rajapaksa that Minister Mervyn Silva was carrying out a campaign calling on people to vote only for SLFP candidates and has acted violently against NFF member Piyasiri Wijenayake.

        

Wimal had told Basil that one of Piyasiri Wijenayake’s secretaries, who is engaged in election campaign work the Kelaniya electorate, had been threatened by Mervyn’s thugs and that he is given continuous threatening phone calls.

Wimal had said that if the matter was not resolved, Piyasiri Wijenayake’s supporters would
     also lose their cool and result in a huge intra party conflict.

A request had also been made by Wimal from Additional Presidential Secretary Gamini Senarath to meet the President with Wijenayake to explain the current situation. However, an appointment had not been granted yet for the purpose.

When senior Minister Dullas Alahapperuma also complained about Mervyn’s actions, the President and Basil stood by Mervyn.
