Two day workshop on Geneva talks at Temple trees

Steps to explain the motives of Geneva talks to the peace delegation, proposed to be held on October 28th and 29th, commenced yesterday with the briefing by President Mahinda Rajapakse at the Presidential Secretariat.

They were defined in detail about the decision taken by All Party Representative Committee and how to act on its suggestions and recommendations.

It was also stressed about the importance of taking into consideration the opinion of the people, suggestions of political parties, ideas and suggestions of intellectuals and others at the proposed talks. This workshop commenced on Saturday and continued till yesterday.

President Mahinda Rajapakse participating at the workshop explained that the talks should be effective and constructive in order to enlighten the international community.

The delegation consists of Nimal Siripala de Silva, Rohitha Bogollagama, Jeyaraj Fernandopulle, Ferial Ashraff, Ministers, Lalith Weerasinghe, President’s Secretary, Gothabhaya Rajapakse, Secretary of the Ministry of Defense, H.M.G.S. Palihakkara Secretary of the Foreign Ministry, Dr. Palitha Kohona, Director of Government Peace Secretariat, Ajith Rivard Cabraal, Governor of National Bank, Homin Dayasiri P.C., Former IGP Chandra Fernando and H.L. de Silva, Attorney at Law.

The delegation is expected leave for Geneva on 24th and 25th in two groups and at the same time Norway Government is arranging the journey of the LTTE delegation and they would leave the country by tomorrow, sources said.
