The forthcoming election will be held in accordance with the new system and not as in the 1978 constitution, said the Minister of Constitutional Affairs and National Integrity, Dew Gunasekara.

All parties have reached to a consensus regarding the election reformation. A final decision will be taken after the meeting with the opposition leader Ranil Wickramasinghe on the 5th of December, and an interim report will be tabled in house during the next meet. I have to discuss with two other parties also in this regard. Stern action will be taken to implement the official language. Proficiency in Sinhala and Tamil will be a must for all state officials, he said.
