image  All the JVP members of the parliament will attend the parliamentary sessions tomorrow as usual while their trade union front stages its one-day general strike. The National Trade Union Center (NTUC), the umbrella organisation of 366 state and private sector trade unions, will stage a one-day general strike tomorrow (10) demanding a 5,000-rupee salary hike, retention of Rs. 2. 50 cost of living allowance and an immediate reduction in bus and train fares. NTUC President JVP MP K. D. Lalkantha said that the strike will definitely be held. But according to JVP Parliamentary Group Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake, Lalkantha will be present in the parliament during the strike."We decided to stage a one-day general strike on July 10 one and half months ago. We announced our decision and informed President Mahinda Rajapaksa too with our demands. But, the government is still turning a blind eye to our demands," Lalkantha said.He said that now the government is preparing their trade unions and henchmen to sabotage the NTUC strike. Media Minister Laxman Yapa Abeywardana said on Monday that there would be massive attacks by the LTTE during the next 48 hours. "This is completely untrue."
