General was arrested according to AG’s advice – President
The President had told a foreign diplomat that General Sarath Fonseka was not arrested due to a personal grudge, but was done due to a legal requirement following advice received from the Attorney General (AG), a sources from the diplomatic community said.
Sources said the President was trying to find excuses to shed responsibility for the General’s arrest due to mounting international pressure and that there was a chance of General Fonseka being released soon.
The second court martial against General Fonskea that convened yesterday (17) adjourned proceedings until further notice.
