A man suspecting to be performing witchcraft inside a court room where a murder case against a former member of parliament was being heard was arrested this morning.

The arrest was made after the Senior State Counsel informed High Court judge Kumudini Wickremesinghe that the man was performing witchcraft.

The suspect is a relative of ex-MP Chandana Kathriarachchi who is accused of murdering a villager in Piliyandala.

The suspect identified as Munagamage Gunawardena was handed over to the Keselwatta police station.

The incident took place a day after a lime fruit was found in the hands of the accused ex-MP who is standing trial with four others.

In a related development today morning the Jury in the same case informed courts that one of its members had received death threats.

The IGP was ordered to investigate the matter.
